Call for Nominations - Pre-Doc Consortium Co-Coordinator

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

Co-Coordinator for Southern Management Association (SMA) Pre-Doctoral Consortium

SMA’s Pre-Doctoral Consortium will be held at the Tradewinds Hotel in St. Pete Beach, Florida on Wednesday October 25, 2017 as part of the Annual Meeting of the Southern Management Association.  The SMA Annual Meeting runs from October 24 - 28, 2017 and consortium participants are encouraged, but not required, to attend the remainder of the meeting. 

The SMA Board is soliciting nominations for the appointed position of Pre-Doctoral Student Consortium Co-Coordinator. This position begins a two-year commitment to the Doctoral Consortia Committee. The appointee will share coordinator responsibilities for the 2017 Pre-Doctoral Student Consortium, and become Lead Coordinator for the for 2018 consortium. Responsibilities include organizing consortia, developing the agenda, securing speakers, conducting the consortia, and obtaining feedback from the participants. The appointee’s responsibilities will begin immediately after appointment, at which time she/he will collaborate with Frankie Weinberg (Loyola University) who serves as 2017 Pre-Doctoral Consortium Lead Coordinator.

The nominating committee – comprised of Neil Tocher (Idaho State University), Matthew Rutherford (Oklahoma State University), Laura Little (University of Georgia), Frankie Weinberg (Loyola University) and Lakami Baker (Auburn University) – will apply the following criteria in recommending nominees for appointment by the Board:

1. Contributions to the field of management, including respect and reputation among colleagues in the field. 
2. Involvement in past SMA activities and service, including reviewing papers, chairing sessions, presenting or discussing papers, being a track chair, and serving in leadership roles. 
3. Reputation for conscientiousness and dependability. 
4. Experience working with doctoral students.

You may nominate a colleague or self-nominate. However, if nominating a colleague, you must obtain the nominee’s agreement to be nominated.
